Founded in 1926 by the medical foundation of the University of Louvain in Congo (FOMULAC), the work was ceded to the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) when the University Center was transferred to Kinshasa in 1952. In 1976, the Society of Jesus will in turn hand over the work to the Diocese of Kisantu which, to mark its missionary character, will baptize it HOSPITAL SAINT LUC DE KISANTU.
