The hospital reopened its doors in July 2004 after the war and has a capacity of 54 beds out of which only 27 are functional. It treats a wide range of tropical endemic and respiratory infections like typhoid, malaria and others. It has a maternity ward that attends to pregnant women who travel by train to Kindu from different locations, a radiology department and an operational theatre. In a bid to improve on the radiological services the Chinese Contingent Commander promised to send some technicians to help them in updating their skills in the Radiological department.
