Ghindae Zonal Referral Hospital is a public hospital situated in Ghindae, in the Northern Red Sea Region of Eritrea. With a bed complement of 50 beds prior to 1986 and counting, the referral hospital offers general medical care, maternal and child health services, surgery, ophthalmology, dental care, physiotherapy, radiology and psychiatry. The hospital has 6 medical doctors, 5 nurses, 10 midwives, 2 eye specialists, 2 laboratory technicians, 2 pharmacists, 5 dental specialists, 35 patient care nurses, 2 physiotherapists, 1 psychiatric and 4 public health technicians. The hospital also provides public health services such as infant vaccination, volunteer counseling. It provides training in nursing (since 2009), midwifery, as well as residency training in orthopedic surgery and pediatrics. Ghindae Referral Hospital is assisted by some foreign medical staff including the Archimed Group of Germany which has been giving material assistance and training for more than a decade.
