The Hôpital Préfectoral de Mandiana of the urban municipality of Mandiana is located 560 km from the capital Conakry, in the Kankan region (Upper Guinea). Created in 1975, it has a capacity of 44 beds. It underwent only a partial renovation in 2005, with funding from the European Union, while it is the reference structure of the 12 health centers dependent on Mandiana Prefecture. The high number of maternal and infant hospital deaths, resulting in particular from the obsolescence of the premises and the lack of necessary medical equipment, justifies the equipment as well as the renovation of the maternity department of the Mandiana Prefectural Hospital, its health system and the training of its nursing staff.
