Benson Hospital was established in 2003 by Dr. Jimi Benson and his wife Dr. Angela Benson in Paynesville, Liberia. It was a result of the felt-need of the Outland Community, a vulnerable low-socio economic area in Paynesville near the densely populated Red Light Market. Before then, it was a Community Health Clinic which got looted during the Liberian civil war. Benson Hospital was used as a field Hospital during the civil war by Medicens Sans Frontiers/Spain (MSF). The facility was turned over to the Bensons by MSF in 2010 as the emergency period phased out and is open to the public. The Hospital provides quality services at the secondary level including antenatal, deliveries, post-natal care, child care, medical and surgical services.
