Nearly seven decades ago, Chitwan district was covered with dense forests and bushes. It was a suitable habitat for wild animals including tigers, bears, elephants, rhinos, venomous snakes, dragons and mosquitoes. With the deforestation and increase in human settlements, the incidence of various diseases like malaria has also started to decrease.
