Opened in the 1950s. Aweil State (the then Aweil Civil) Hospital remains the only operating referral health care center for Northern Bahr so Ghazal to date. With minimal health care (but tertiary level) services delivery, the hospital continues to operate under the help of international humanitarian agencies (including MSF, UNICEF, IRC, HPF, ARC, UNFPA, USAID, EU, Canadian and Swedish people government amongst others). Neonatal care provided in Aweil Civil Hospital: 26-bed capacity -13 regular (semi-NICU):9 premature/LBW (KMC unit);4 neonatal tetanus.
