Mathias Catholic Hospital was established in 1991 by the JMJ Sisters in a small structure initially. Since then the JMJ Sisters have continued to manage the hospital. It is the only hospital in the Pru East District. It has a bed capacity of 146 being handled by a staff strength of 330 currently. The hospital is under the political Administration of the Pru East District Assembly of Bono East Region. Ghana. It was formerly under the Konongo Mampong Diocese of the Catholic Church but recently joined the newly created Techiman Diocese.
