Lodwar County Referral Hospital (Lodwar District Hospital)Facility

Lodwar County Referral Hospital (formerly Lodwar District Hospital) is categorized as a Level 4 facility, which ideally should serve a population of 100,000, with limited human resources, personnel, and medical supplies. Yet it is functioning as a referral facility for all of the Turkana region’s 90 health centers and dispensaries, as well as many in the neighboring countries of Uganda and South Sudan. This increases the hospital’s catchment population to almost 1 million people.
