In 1862, the French Army established the Military Hospital (French: Hôpital militaire) when they first invaded Cochinchina. This establishment in the late 1870s moved to 14 rue Lagrandière, i.e. its present location (14 Ly Tu Trong, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
