Hospital Boliviano Español de Patacamaya is a public, government affiliated hospital, which has incorporated traditional medicines from the local culture, including a traditional medicine clinic (consultorio de medicine tradicional), and the use of a "live-laboratory" (vivero-laboratorio) of medicinal plants located in the Villa Esteban Arce utilized by medical practitioners of the hospital. Starting in 2006 the hospital opened its own obstetrical ward and has since gone on to incorporate methods of traditional medicine in obstetrics and child health, contributing to improved outcomes.
