Built-in 1979 on the site of the former Regional Maternity Hospital established in 1962, the regional hospital of Thiès was commissioned in 1980. Over time, the El-Hajj Ahmad Sahir Ndiyen Regional Hospital has become a Level 2 Medical Facility with 382 beds. It also has a six-room operating room, a functional dialysis unit, medical imaging (ultrasound, radiology, scanner, mammography, etc.), a laboratory of medical biology and pathological anatomy, a maternity ward (more than 4,000 births per year), pediatrics, chemotherapy in the maternity ward since 2015, for the treatment of breast and cervical cancer.
