Pohnpei Community Health Center (Kolonia Dispensary) is a US federally funded program (HRSA) which was coordinated through FSM National Government (HESA) and implemented in Pohnpei as a pilot project in 1987 as part of a wider plan to decentralize Pohnpei health care system with a mission to develop, throughout all of the Pohnpei State, a decentralized Primary Health Care System supported by efficient community-based dispensaries, which aims to provide acceptable, affordable, and appropriate primary care services in these community based settings to provide care to the underserved and impoverished with an emphasis on the prevention of illness and health maintenance.
