The Centre de Prise en Charge Intégrée des Addictions de Dakar (CEPIAD), which opened in December 2014, is an addiction reference centre in Dakar for Senegal and the wider region. To date, it has cared for 1200 people, including approximately 250 people currently enrolled in its opioid substitution therapy program. The CEPIAD is a unit of the psychiatry department, housed within the CHNU of Fann in premises rehabilitated for this purpose: a one-story building dedicated to consultations and the delivery of methadone is flanked by a large convivial hut with showers and a small hut for preparing community meals, the surrounding land allowing the development of sports and gardening activities. Fann Hospital is close to two neighborhoods where many drug users live.
