The Nurek hospital was opened in 1948 under the name "Nurek district health" in 1954 in connection with the entry into the Ordzhenkidzeobad district, it was renamed to the "Rural medical site". In 1991, in connection with the construction of the Nurek hydroelectric power station, a three-story central Nurek hospital with 320 beds and a polyclinic were opened simultaneously to receive 500 patients a day. The central city hospital currently has 210 beds, 14 treatment departments and 6 auxiliary rooms. There are 402 employees in the hospital in total.
