From organization website: Nick Simons Institute (NSI) is a Nepalese non-profit supporting rural healthcare workforce development in Nepal. Operates training programs for skilled birth attendants, anesthesia assistants, and rural healthcare workers. Welcomes volunteer Nepali and international medical educators. Nick Simons Institute (NSI, nsi.edu.np) is a Nepali non-profit (Kathmandu-based, founded 2006 in memory of Nick Simons) dedicated to producing competent and committed mid-level rural healthcare providers (Mid-Level Health Workers — General Practice/MD-GP, Anesthesia Assistants, Skilled Birth Attendants, Surgical Assistants) and supporting rural healthcare delivery and capacity building in Nepal. Operates partnerships with Nepali Ministry of Health and Population, medical schools, district hospitals, and primary health centers. Programs include training and certification of MLHWs, ongoing professional development, rural hospital quality improvement initiatives, telemedicine support, supportive supervision, and operational research. Strong emphasis on producing rural Nepali healthcare providers who stay in rural areas long-term — addressing the rural-urban physician maldistribution.
