Volunteering in Uganda (Lacor Hospital)

Lacor Hospital has more than 600 Ugandan employees, including 30 physicians. We welcome medical personnel who are willing to help us. Still, a selection process is in place to ensure your experience has a positive outcome both for the hospital and yourself. We must assess that your skills and expertise are employable in a least-developed country. Moreover, it is very expensive to arrange the accommodation and the transport for a volunteer; the amount necessary to cover the transportation by car from Kampala to Lacor is enough to pay a local nurse for several months!
 

We are looking for physicians, surgeons, nurses and midwives, laboratory technicians and pharmacists.
 

Before applying, please read carefully the following requirements:

• Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential.
• Adaptability to work and live in a different culture
• High moral standards and full commitment to the Hospital's core principles.
• Ability to work autonomously in a short time.
• Specialization in Anesthesiology, Anatomic pathology or Orthopedics is considered a plus.
• Former comparable experience in developing countries is a plus.

Important Note: Lacor Hospital and Fondazione Corti provide ground transportation, accommodations and meals only to people whose presence is deemed to be helpful and employable in a very short time.

If you do not meet the aforementioned requirements, but still wish to visit Lacor Hospital as a volunteer or an intern, you are requested to personally pay for all the expenses that may arise, including (but not limited to) an insurance contract and the registration fee for the Ugandan Medical Association (400 USD, compulsory for physicians and surgeons).
