MOBILE HEALTH CARE

WHY?

Providing free basic health checks to the urban poor of Phnom Penh has the aim of assisting them in identifying any medical issues early, getting help in recovery, thereby reducing expenses on medical issues for these extremely poor families.

WHO?

The doctors and volunteers who serve in the Mobile Health Care are people who are on their own full circle journey and this project is as much about their growth and development as it is about providing basic health checks in the slum communities of Phnom Penh. This project serves as a training ground and opportunities to serve that helps to clarify purpose and calling in life.

WHAT?

About 100 basic health checks per month are conducted in urban poor communities. The checks include checking temperature, blood pressure, pulse and also providing treatment for diabetes, fever, diarrhea and the common cold. Any patients with major diseases are assisted to go to the government hospital or specialist clinics as necessary. We also work alongside cooperating partners in dental and eyes & ears services. The time spent face-to-face with the people is used to educate them on the importance of hygiene and to talk about the importance of healthy diets, encouraging parents to put their child’s health high on their priority list.
