Accommodations are in a guest house or duplex depending on the number of guests. The homes and guest house is completely furnished and have electricity, running water, water filters, refrigerators, gas and electric burners, electric ovens, microwave. 

English is spoken by most hospital staff. Amharic is the office language of Ethiopia.

There is domestic help who can prepare meals and do cleaning. Most foods can be purchased in the city of Soddo. Butter, meat, and processed foods should be purchased in Addis Ababa before arriving at the hospital.

AIC CURE was Africa’s first orthopedic teaching hospital when it opened in Kijabe in 1998. Each year it performs over 1,500 life-changing reconstructive and orthopedic surgeries for children suffering from treatable disabilities. The teaching hospital has 47 beds and four operating rooms. CURE International uses this facility to multiply its efforts by partnering with The College of Surgeons of East, Central, and Southern Africa (COSECSA) to serve as a regional learning institution by implementing an orthopedic pediatric training program at the residency and fellowship levels. In addition to world-class clinical service, CURE Kenya ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their communities.

Karanda Mission Hospital was established in 1961 to meet the needs of mission stations in the Zambezi River valley, which were established as churches and then, as the abundant healthcare challenges were seen, small dispensaries/clinics were developed along with churches and finally schools. To help the clinics, the hospital was built. Karanda is in a remote area of Northern Zimbabwe nearest to Mount Darwin. Its location is approximately 124 miles from Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.
The hospital is licensed for 150 beds and on an average work day performs between 15-30 surgeries and sees 200-300 outpatients. The facility is known for the large number of surgical cases it handles as well as treating HIV/AIDS, TB, obstetrics, and hydrocephalus.  Karanda performs over 4,000 surgical cases annually and has two full time surgeons (a General surgeon and an OBGYN), and a little help from some visitors. In addition to the two surgeons, Karanda also has a Physician’s assistant and a General practitioner

Established in 1937 and located in Bomet County, Tenwek Hospital is the Medical Ministry of the Africa Gospel Church in collaboration with the World Gospel Mission. We are a 361-bed capacity, Level 6(b), Teaching and Referral Mission Hospital which serves the needs of the vast South West region of Kenya and the country at large.

The Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu is a respected mission hospital located in the North East Region of Ghana. It was founded through the joint efforts and vision of the Ghana Baptist Convention (then Gold Coast Baptist Conference) and the International Mission Board SBC (then Foreign Mission Board) in 1958. Most recent yearly statistics are as follows: 60,000 outpatient visits, 10,000 inpatients, 1,200 major operations, and 2,500-3,000 minor procedures. Over nearly 60 years, it is estimated that well over 3 million patients have visited the hospital.

Kibogora is a hospital of the Free Methodist Church. It is located in the West Province of Rwanda and is ranked a District Hospital by the Rwandan government. The hospital has 257 beds and serves a population of more than 230,000 people. There are more than 220 people employed at the hospital. The hospital has emergency, surgery, medical, pediatric, maternity, and neonatal departments. The supporting services offered at the hospital are x-ray, laboratory, HIV/AIDS, physical therapy, ophthalmology, dental, and psychiatric departments. Kibogora is also a referral center with a team who are responsible to train, monitor and evaluate 13 outlying health centers and health posts.

Expanding on a 20-year-old nursing dispensary, Bongolo Hospital was established in 1977, when a surgeon and two nurses arrived. A nursing school was started shortly afterward and is still running strong.

Established as a mission of the Free Methodist Church of Burundi in the 1940s, Kibuye Hope Hospital is run by Hope Africa University. KHH aims to serve the community and has been designated a regional medical center. It is also the main training hospital for Hope Africa University’s medical program and is the hospital of reference for 12 rural clinics. KHH serves nearly a tenth of Burundi’s area, providing emergency, primary and specialized medical care. Kibuye Hope Hospital has an excellent staff of Burundian doctors, some trained in HAU’s medical school, as well as specialists and visiting professionals.

Chitokoloki is a mission station with a large, active busy mission and hospital that serves not only the people living in the immediate catchment area but also many others who travel from all areas of Zambia and even at times neighboring countries, for medical assistance. The medical facility at Chitokoloki comprises a 180-bed hospital, in two different areas, for acute and ambulatory patients. In addition, there is also a section of the mission known as the Colony, which is a leprosarium with 110 dwellings for TB and leprosy patients, long-term accommodation for some ex-leprosy patients and older people who are more welfare cases with no one to care for them. Emphasis has been placed on primary healthcare and the surrounding area within a 40-kilometer radius is also served by 3 satellite clinics of which two of them are on the west bank of the Zambezi River.

AIC Kijabe as is known today was established in 1915 as a small outpatient clinic within the grounds of the Rift Valley Academy and was originally named Theodora Hospital. The hospital celebrated its centenary in May 2015 and is a multi-specialty facility currently with a bed capacity of 363, serving patients from all over Kenya and other African countries.

PCEA Chogoria Hospital is a not-for-profit faith-based organization that provides quality healthcare services and training. It is registered under the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board and adheres to the statutory regulations of the health sector regulatory bodies in discharging its mandate. It is the main referral hospital for the Eastern region with a catchment covering Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Isiolo and Marsabit counties. The hospital offers a wide range of comprehensive diagnostic, curative and rehabilitative services.

PCEA Chogoria Hospital

AIC Litein Hospital provides primary and specialist care to a catchment population of 800,000 people across six counties in the South Rift region of Kenya. The community of about 450 medical and nonmedical staff is rich in spirit and passionate about providing quality healthcare. General Outpatient Services are administered by qualified specialists to meet the needs of the clients/patients and face the challenges of healthcare services on a 24/7 timeline. Approximately 500 patients are served every day and 600 patients are admitted every month. The hospital is a medical and clinical officers’ internship center and a training site for nursing students from various universities and colleges across Kenya.

ECWA Hospital Egbe is a 75-bed, multiservice complex comprising about 33 acres with 68 buildings. Situated on a major intersection between Ilorin and Lokojo, people come to the hospital from all over Nigeria. It offers multi-specialist services including emergency care, intensive care,  family dentistry, orthopedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery. The hospital is a referral/antiretroviral treatment site for tuberculosis activities across all age groups; providing testing, detecting, recording, treatment, and reporting of TB activities.

This 208-bed acute care hospital includes a comprehensive community health program, outpatient clinic system, and nurse’s training school. Macha Mission Hospital is a moderately equipped rural hospital, setting a high standard for medical care in low-resource settings. Associated with the hospital is the Macha Research Trust, one of three research facilities in Zambia . Macha Mission Hospital provides a full range of services. Separate inpatient wards are available for male, female, maternity, pediatrics and TB/leprosy. Each inpatient ward houses 40-50 patients. The hospital has an excellent reputation throughout Southern Zambia, with many patients coming from afar for treatment at the hospital. Macha Mission Hospital conducts mobile maternal/child health programs at 17 area sites. In addition, the hospital operates a nurse’s training school. Mbingo Baptist Hospital is a referral hospital in Cameroon and the West Africa Sub Region. The Hospital is an approved HIV/AIDS treatment center. It serves as a training center for the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and the Christian Internal Medicine Specialization programs (CIMS).
Mbingo Baptist Hospital is the largest of six hospitals run by the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services.  The hospital is sixty years old, having originally begun as a leprosy settlement in 1952.   Currently, it is a 290-bed referral teaching facility providing high quality, affordable and accessible care to all those in need, as an expression of Christian love and witness.  The hospital is located at 4300 feet elevation in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, 37 km north of Bamenda, the provincial capital. Patients are currently received from throughout Cameroon and some surrounding African countries.  The hospital is staffed by 15 full time specialty-trained physicians, 20 resident physicians.  Almost one hundred specialist physicians volunteer at the hospital each year, providing additional specialty services. Annually, Hôpital Baptiste Biblique (Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital) provides care to more than 16,000 outpatients and more than 2,500 inpatients, including about 2,000 surgical cases. The hospital averages 600 deliveries per year. The hospital also runs a nurse training program and runs outreaches, including mobile health clinics and community health evangelism ministries. Staffed by missionary medical personnel and trained Togolese employees, HBB also welcomes short-term personnel through the Samaritan’s Purse World Medical Mission program.

Mukinge Mission Hospital is located in the Northwestern Province of Zambia serving a population of 100,000 in the districts Kasempa and Mufumbwe. It was founded by missionary physician Dr. Bob Foster nearly 60 years ago and today is owned by the Evangelical Church of Zambia, funded by grants from both church-based and government-based sources. The hospital takes pride in its commitment to spiritual ministering to the sick, educating the next generation of nurses and other health care professionals who come for attachments.

Nkhoma Hospital functions as a district hospital with responsibilities for the preventive and curative healthcare of a defined catchment population. The hospital gets referrals from 9 health centers within the catchment area. Nkhoma Hospital also oversees 11 health centers beyond the catchment area. They are Chinthembwe in Ntchisi, Mphunzi in Dedza, Mlanda and Chigodi in Ntcheu, Malingunde, Dedza, Chiwe in Lilongwe, and newly constructed facilities Chilanga in Kasungu and Livulezi in Ntcheu.

The hospital is located in Soddo, a city of roughly 80,000 people in southwestern Ethiopia, about 200 miles (330 km) from Addis Ababa. Soddo Christian Hospital has four wards, an ICU, an emergency clinic, outpatient clinic rooms, an optometry clinic, and a dental clinic. Since 2005, 268,000 patients have been treated, more than 48,000 operations performed, and more than 7,400 babies delivered. Kapsowar Hospital was first established by Africa Inland Mission (AIM) in 1933. In 1963, AIM handed over ownership of the hospital to the Africa Inland Church (AIC). The hospital is under the supervision of the AIC Central Health Council. Since the Marakwet District came into existence in 1994, Kapsowar Hospital continues to supply the majority of medical care to the people of the area with a goal to provide excellent healthcare to the glory of God.

Memorial Christian Hospital

The Evangelical Hospital was founded by the Central American Mission (CAM International) of Dallas, Texas, and run by Asociacion Hospitalaria Evangelica of Honduras. The hospital provides medical care to thousands of people in the downtown area and throughout Honduras. Traditionally, the medical staff was made of general practitioners, with surgical emphasis. In addition, there are specialists and consultants for different areas, from Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, who offer consultations on a regular basis.

‎La Fuente Centro de Salud Integral‎‎ is a christian clinic located in San Jeronimo, Cusco, Peru. The clinic's goal is to provide excellent health care to the population of Cusco and its surroundings. La Fuente is staffed by Peruvian nationals as well as international volunteers. The Jungle Hospital’s geographical focus is the mountainous region known as La Cuenca Cangrejal, the Cangrejal Cove. This covers more than 1,000 square miles of jungle just south of La Ceiba, and is home to more than 15,000 villagers. The Jungle Hospital in the village of Rio Viejo, is implementing the comprehensive healthcare model developed by Healing Hands Global. This healthcare model includes community and hospital-based initiatives. Community-based initiatives include medical and dental brigades in outlying villages, dietary and hygiene education in local schools, as well as community development projects. The 130-bed hospital is operated by the Church of the Nazarene and supported by the Nazarene Hospital Foundation. An allergist-immunologist diagnoses and manages disorders involving immune system conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxix, rhinitis, and eczema as well as adverse reactions and immune deficiency diseases.

An anesthesiologist is a physician who provides anesthesia for patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures while monitoring the patient’s condition and supporting vital organ functions. The anesthesiologist also diagnoses and treats acute, chronic, and/or cancer pain as well as provide resuscitation and medical management for patients with critical illnesses and severe injuries.

A dermatologist is a physician with training and expertise in the diagnosis and medical/surgical management of diseases of the skin, hair and nails, and mucous membranes.

A physician who specializes in emergency medicine focuses on the immediate decision making and action necessary to prevent death or any further disability both in the pre-hospital setting and in the emergency department.

An internist who concentrates on disorders of the internal (endocrine) glands, such as the thyroid and adrenal glands, this specialist also deals with disorders such as diabetes, metabolic and nutritional disorders, obesity, pituitary diseases, and menstrual and sexual problems.

Family physicians deliver a range of acute, chronic, and preventive medical care services. Family physicians also manage chronic illness, often coordinating care provided by other subspecialists.

Gastroenterologists are internists who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive organs, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas, liver and gallbladder.

Geriatricians are internists who have special knowledge of the aging process and special skills in the diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative aspects of illness in the elderly. 

A hematologist is an internist with additional training who specializes in blood diseases. This specialist treats diseases such as anemia, hemophilia and sickle cell disease as well as cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

An infectious disease specialist is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases caused by microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses (such as HIV and hepatitis), fungi and parasites.

An internist is a personal physician who provides long-term, comprehensive care in the office and in the hospital, managing both common and complex illnesses of adolescents, adults, and the elderly.

Medical geneticists specialize in medicine that involves the interaction between genes and health. They are trained to evaluate, diagnose, manage, treat, and counsel individuals of all ages with hereditary disorders.

A nephrologist is an internist who treats chronic and acute disorders of the kidney, high blood pressure, fluid, electrolyte and mineral balance, and manages complications of kidney failure. 

Neurological surgery constitutes a medical discipline and surgical specialty that provides care for adult and pediatric patients in the treatment of pain or pathological processes that may modify the function or activity of the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, the supporting structures of these systems, and their vascular supply.

A neurologist specializes in the evaluation and treatment of all types of disease or impaired function of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and autonomic nervous system, as well as the blood vessels that relate to these structures. 

Ophthalmology is a specialty focused on the medical and surgical care of the eyes. Ophthalmologists are the only physicians medically trained to manage the complete range of eye and vision care.

An orthopaedic surgeon is educated in the preservation, investigation, and restoration of the form and function of the extremities, spine, and associated structures by medical, surgical, and physical means.

An otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon provides medical and/ or surgical therapy for the prevention of diseases, allergies, neoplasms, deformities, disorders, and/or injuries of the ears, nose, sinuses, throat, respiratory, and upper alimentary systems, face, jaws, and the other head and neck systems.

Hospice and palliative medicine physicians have special knowledge and skills to prevent and relieve the suffering experienced by patients with life- limiting illnesses.

A pathologist deals with the causes and nature of disease and contributes to diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment through knowledge gained by the laboratory application of the biologic, chemical, and physical sciences.

Pediatric surgeons are primarily concerned with the diagnosis, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of surgical problems in children, and they operate on children whose development ranges from the newborn stage through the teenage years.

Pediatricians practice the specialty of medical science concerned with the physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood. Pediatric care encompasses a broad spectrum of health services ranging from preventive care to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.

A specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation evaluates and treats patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities that result from musculoskeletal conditions (such as neck or back pain, or sports or work injuries), neurological conditions (such as stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury), or other medical conditions.

A plastic surgeon deals with the repair, reconstruction, or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, craniomaxillofacial structures, hand, extremities, breast and trunk, and external genitalia or cosmetic enhancement of these areas of the body.

A psychiatrist specializes in the evaluation and treatment of mental, addictive, and emotional disorders such as schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substancerelated disorders, sexual and gender identity disorders, and adjustment disorders.

Pulmonary/critical care medicine encompasses a wide variety of patient care opportunities and offers a large spectrum of practice opportunities. The majority of pulmonary/critical care specialists enjoy a practice that provides care for both inpatients and outpatients.

A radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options. Physicians practicing in the field of Radiology specialize in Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, or Radiation Oncology. 

A rheumatologist is an internist who treats diseases of joints, muscle, bones and tendons. This specialist diagnoses and treats arthritis, back pain, muscle strains, common athletic injuries and “collagen” diseases.

A general surgeon has principal expertise in the diagnosis and care of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the abdomen, digestive tract, endocrine system, breast, skin, and blood vessels. A general surgeon is also trained in the treatment of patients who are injured or critically ill, and in the care of pediatric and cancer patients.

A urologist, also known as a genitourinary surgeon, focuses on diagnosing and treating disorders of the urinary tracts of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males. This specialist manages non-surgical problems such as urinary tract infections and benign prostatic hyperplasia, as well as surgical problems such as the surgical management of cancers, the correction of congenital abnormalities, and correcting stress incontinence.

A vascular surgeon has expertise in the diagnosis and care of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the arteries, veins and lymphatic systems, excluding vessels of the brain and heart.

An obstetrician/gynecologist focuses on the health of women before, during, and after childbearing years, diagnosing and treating conditions of the reproductive system and associated disorders.
