Global Eye Mission

Strives to bring hope and healing to the lives of those living in underserved regions of the world by providing high-quality eye care to help the blind see, and improving the quality of life for individuals and entire communities.

Overview

Global Eye Mission has partnered with Hope of the Nations and the Tenwek Eye Unit (from Tenwek Mission Hospital in Kenya) on surgical outreach projects in rural western Tanzania. There is virtually no eye care available for the large population that lives in this region of Tanzania. The majority of the people in this area are poor and live in remote villages along Lake Tanganyika. Hope of the Nations has served the people of rural Western Tanzania for over 13 years and has seen significant growth in a variety of programs to serve the poor in this region.

Currently, there is no long-term eye care program in this region. Therefore, at this time the eye care work has focused on short-term eye projects and building relationships within Tanzania with the long-term goal of having a more sustained eye care presence in this region.
