Overview

Project in Nicaragua

In a chain of villages located on a mountain ridge away from big cities, we do everything to make sure patients receive treatment in time. We treat and transport patients in emergency circumstances, provide consultation to children and adults, and follow pregnancies and chronic conditions.


Program duration: 3-12 months

We provide:

Working conditions and responsibilities:

  • Strict adherence to all program rules;
  • Work at the clinic (provide consultation to patients, distribute medicine) starts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, with a 1 hour lunch break, as well as being on duty in the evening and on weekends according to a schedule. Be prepared to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis;
  • Keep track of medical documents, reports, and statistics;
  • Provide education to the local community on proper health practices;
  • Help clean the clinic, shared spaces, and rooms;
  • Help cook meals;
  • Assist with shopping for groceries, basic household items, and medication.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Must have a secondary or higher degree specializing in general medicine or pediatrics;
  • Advanced proficiency in diagnosing, treating and preventing illnesses with experience in outpatient clinical procedures;
  • Language skills: Spanish B1 level or higher on arrival (we provide help in learning Spanish before your trip!);
  • Willingness to speak Spanish even within the team;
  • Be willing to support the project through fundraising
  • Be willing to live and work far from large cities, with bad internet connectivity, at a small rural clinic with a diverse, international team;
  • Support the core values and mission of Health&Help.
