Medical Volunteer for Honduras - Surgery

🇭🇳

Honduras

Opportunity provided by

Central American Medical Outreach (CAMO) Nutrition Program

Seeks to improve the quality of life for people of Central America by strengthening healthcare systems, including providing medical, surgical, and dental care and promoting sustainable community development.

Overview

It is impossible to fully understand the scope of everything CAMO is doing in Honduras until you see it with your own eyes. So many lives are touched in one way or another, whether it is medical services or just around the community when volunteers from the USA take time out of their lives to use their skills and serve the people in Honduras. But it does not just stop with the volunteers. The real impact is watching a community of the poor help each other and not just rely on aid from the USA. This is true sustainability and what makes CAMO’s model different. Each spring and fall, CAMO takes teams of professionals to Honduras based upon specific needs.

  • Nurses in all areas
  • Surgeons in all areas
  • Biomedical all areas
  • Trade School educators all areas
  • Educators all areas
  • Sports coaches all areas

If you are interested in volunteering internationally and seeing firsthand how creating counterpart relationships and education can help a community,  fill out an application (.pdf) and contact Kathy Tschiegg at 330-683-5956.

Our surgical programs are very reliant upon our counterpart relationships. No USA medical professional is able to go to Honduras without an appropriate counterpart. This allows quality assurance of the patient and any necessary post op interventions. CAMO has five surgical programs: Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Urology and Plastic Surgery.
